NASA, NOAA Analyses Reveal Record-Shattering Global Warm Temperatures in 2015

Earth’s 2015 surface temperatures were the warmest since modern record keeping began in 1880, according to independent analyses by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Globally averaged temperatures in 2015 shattered the previous mark set in 2014 by 0.23 degrees Fahrenheit (0.13 Celsius). CBS Sports’ Coverage of Super Bowl 50 Is Most-Watched Program in Television History as 167 Million Viewers Watch All or Part of Game

The CBS Television Network’s coverage of Super Bowl 50 featuring the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Feb. 7 (6:39-10:22 PM, ET) was watched in all-or-part by a record 167.0 million (Persons 2+) viewers, making it the most-watched single broadcast in television history on an all-or-part basis according to Nielsen’s Fast Total Audience Estimates. FDA Modernizes Nutrition Facts Label for Packaged Foods

On May 20, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration took a major step in making sure consumers have updated nutritional information for most packaged foods sold in the United States, that will help people make informed decisions about the foods they eat and feed their families. “I am thrilled that the FDA has finalized a new and improved Nutrition Facts label that will be on food products nationwide,” said First Lady Michelle Obama. “This is going to make a real difference in providing families across the country the information they need to make healthy choices.” See the full release to see more about the new label.

Microsoft to Acquire LinkedIn

Microsoft Corp. and LinkedIn Corp. on June 13 announced they had entered into a definitive agreement under which Microsoft will acquire LinkedIn for $196 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $26.2 billion, inclusive of LinkedIn’s net cash. LinkedIn will retain its distinct brand, culture and independence. Jeff Weiner will remain CEO of LinkedIn, reporting to Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. Reid Hoffman, chairman of the board, co-founder, and controlling shareholder of LinkedIn, and Weiner both fully support this transaction. The transaction closed this month.
