This evaluates the impact of global natural disaster events to identify trends, manage volatility, and enhance resilience. The report reveals that the 409 natural catastrophe events of 2019 resulted in economic losses of U.S. $232 billion – 3% below average annual losses for this century, but 20% lower than the previous decade.

CEO Pessimism Over Global Growth Reaches Record High – PwC

As we enter a new decade, CEOs are showing record levels of pessimism in the global economy, with 53% predicting a decline in the rate of economic growth in 2020. This is up from 29% in 2019 and just 5% in 2018 – the highest level of pessimism since PwC started asking this question in 2012. By contrast, the number of CEOs projecting a rise in the rate of economic growth dropped from 42% in 2019 to only 22% in 2020. These are some of the key findings of PwC’s 23rd survey of almost 1,600 CEOs from 83 countries across the world, launched on Jan. 20 at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

Boeing Statement on 737 MAX Return to Service

On Jan. 21 Boeing released the following: As we have emphasized, the FAA and other global regulators will determine when the 737 MAX returns to service. However, in order to help our customers and suppliers plan their operations, we periodically provide them with our best estimate of when regulators will begin to authorize the ungrounding of the 737 MAX. We are informing our customers and suppliers that we are currently estimating that the ungrounding of the 737 MAX will begin during mid-2020. This updated estimate is informed by our experience to date with the certification process.

U.S. News Special Report: Stockton, Calif. Is the Most Diverse City in America

The most racially diverse city in the United States is Stockton, California, and the least racially diverse city is El Paso, Texas, a new U.S. News & World Report analysis has found. To determine the most racially diverse cities in America, U.S. News calculated a diversity score for each of the 66 U.S. cities with populations of 300,000 or more, based on recent census data. The diversity score represents the likelihood that, in a particular city, two individuals chosen at random will be from different racial and ethnic groups.
