NASA’s Perseverance Rover Collects Puzzle Pieces of Mars’ History
NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover successfully collected its first pair of rock samples, and scientists already are gaining new insights into the region. After collecting its first sample, named “Montdenier,” on Sept. 6, the team collected a second, “Montagnac,” from the same rock on Sept. 8.
Analysis of the rocks from which the Montdenier and Montagnac samples were taken and from the rover’s previous sampling attempt may help the science team piece together the timeline of the area’s past, which was marked by volcanic activity and periods of persistent water.

The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) today (Sept. 16) announced the recipients of its 2021 ASPCA Humane Awards. The annual Humane Awards honors animal heroes who have gone above and beyond their traditional roles to help humans, as well as people making significant strides to improve animal welfare, in line with the ASPCA’s humane mission. This year’s winners will be celebrated at the virtual Humane Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

Boeing Forecasts $9 Trillion Aerospace Market Opportunities in Commercial, Defense and Services Over Next Decade
Boeing today (Sept. 14) released its annual forecast for the commercial, defense, and space aerospace market, reflecting signs of the industry’s recovery following the impacts of COVID-19. The 2021 Boeing Market Outlook (BMO) – Boeing’s analysis of long-term market dynamics – states that commercial airplanes and services are showing signs of recovery, while the global defense, space, and government services markets have remained stable.
The BMO projects a $9 trillion market over the next decade for aerospace products and services that Boeing addresses. The forecast is up from $8.5 trillion a year ago, and up from $8.7 trillion in the pre-pandemic 2019 forecast, reflecting the market’s continued recovery progress.
