U.S. Workers More Satisfied? Just Barely

Americans have the highest job satisfaction levels since the beginning of the Great Recession, according to a report released by the Conference Board. The majority, however, continue to be unhappy at work.

The report, based on a Fall 2013 survey of 5,000 U.S. households conducted for the Conference Board by the Nielsen Company, finds 47.7 percent of Americans are satisfied with their jobs. Though a slight improvement from 2012 and 2010 — when the figure stood at 47.3 percent and 42.6 percent (an all-time low), respectively — job satisfaction remains historically low, extending a trend seen since the turn of the century.

While job satisfaction in the 1980s and ’90s routinely neared 60 percent or higher, 2005 was the last year that a majority of Americans was satisfied at work (52.1 percent).  See the full release to learn more.

Consumer Reports Survey: Majority of Americans Look for ‘Natural’ Label When Shopping, Believe It Carries Benefits Despite the Contrary

According to a new national survey by the Consumer Reports National Research Center released today, 59 percent of consumers check to see if the products they are buying are “natural,” despite there being no federal or third-party verified label for this term. Moreover, while a majority of people think that the “natural” label actually carries specific benefits, an even greater percentage of consumers think it should. See the full release to learn more.

Cable is King but Streaming Stands Strong When it Comes to Americans’ TV Viewing Habits

Do you still call it “watching TV” when you’re not actually using a TV to do it? That’s a question that may be coming up more and more today, given the increasing use of streaming as a viewership option.

While more than three-fourths of U.S. adults (77 percent) say they regularly watch television shows via either cable (55 percent) or satellite TV (23 percent), more than four in 10 say they regularly watch via streaming (43 percent) including two-thirds of millennials (67 percent). See the full release to get more of the survey results.
