Bloomberg Radio in Washington Aired Its First Original Program (FishbowlDC)

When Bloomberg leased a CBS-owned radio station in Washington and in Baltimore in December to bring Bloomberg Radio to the D.C.-area market, the initial programming mainly was sourced from the New York radio station and bolstered by Washington-based reporting, says FishbowlDC. Recently, the station aired its first original program to be based out of Washington; it’s called Politics, Policy and Power.

New York Times Plans to Cut Hundreds of Jobs Later This Year (New York Post)

The New York Times Co. is preparing to lay off a few hundred staffers in the second half of the year, New York Post reports. Internal talks include a possible deal to provide reduced severance to those affected, sources told The Post. The layoffs would likely occur between the Aug. 21 end of the summer Olympics in Brazil and Election Day on Nov. 8, sources said.

Digiday reports that the U.K.’s favorite tabloid is launching on Snapchat Discover as it adds another notch to its post-paywall platform strategy. Discover now has some 20 media partners, up from 11 at launch, including Vice, National Geographic, and Cosmopolitan, Digiday says.
