I love ink.
While it might just be a tattoo to some, to others it’s more than art on flesh. It’s beautifully freeing expression; a raw way to share your soul with the world.
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with this trend of nature-inspired tattoos.
Particularly mesmerizing is the work of Ukrainian tattoo artist Rita Zolotukhina, who uses actual plants – leaves and flowers – to design tattoos. Her artistry is amazing.
So because I’ve never covered tattoos in this space, we’re going to look at some great tattoo blogs.

1. Th’ink
Th’ink is the official blog of Things&Ink magazine.
Like the magazine, the blog covers tattoos and the artists behind them.
“Editorial content discusses tattoos against their rich cultural history and current tattoo trends,” the blog says, of Things&Ink. “Things&Ink is a collector’s item for tattoo collectors … It is more than just a magazine, it’s a lifestyle.”
I enjoyed several posts on the site, including Interview with China’s “First Lady of Tattoo” Zhuo Dan Ting.
Ting discusses her art background in this interview: “My father was an artist too and a art teacher. He started teaching me art when I was five years old, every night I would draw on the kitchen floor with him. This eventually evolved to paper and canvas, then art college and university.”

2. Hoopers Electric
Hoopers Electric is the tattooing and art site of Thomas Hooper.
Hooper works out of Rock of Ages Tattooing in Austin.
“I am a tattooer, an artist, a husband, and a father,” Hooper says, on his blog. “My sensibilities as an artist are defined by how I may incorporate and blend these identities into my tattooing.”
I really like this site. There are so many layers here.

3. Should I Tattoo?
Should I Tattoo? features advice on tattoo basics, ideas, mistakes, and removal.
The site is managed by Integrative Clinical Resources, whose medical director is Gregory Hall, a primary care physician in Cleveland.
According to the site, Hall looks at a number of things, including tattoos popularity, why women have passed men in tattoo adoption, and the health risks associated with tattoos and piercings.
