Blog Profiles: Small Business Blogs, Part 2
Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, we select a topic and handful of blogs that do a great job contributing to the conversation. I’ve got a side hustle.
When I’m away from my day job, I spend my evenings working on my other gig – promoting, creating, coming up with new ideas, and getting organized for upcoming events.
It’s in this vein that I decided to visit small business blogs and take a look at some great examples that support small fish like me – and inspire us to keep one foot in front of the other.
1. Small Biz Survival
Small Biz Survival launched in Jan. 2006. It’s managed by founder and publisher Becky McCray.
“This is the rural small business blog,” the site says. “We talk about small town business, with how-to articles, an emphasis on social media marketing, and a weekly chance to share your good news in our Brag Basket.”
I like that the site starts with a question: What business stage are you in? Corresponding answers and blog sections: Dreaming, Doing & Growing, and Leveling Up.
Other notable posts: Four Things to Know about Taxes and Starting a Business, Effective Innovation, and What Small Businesses Can Do with Facebook Live and Other Streaming Video.

2. Kabbage
This is a small business blog filled with resources and ideas.
Kabbage – the company – “empowers small businesses through straightforward, flexible access to capital. We’ve extended more than $3 billion directly to small business owners and powered automated funding for other organizations all over the globe – all while maintaining a remarkably high laughter quotient.”
I like its blog. I particularly appreciate the holiday and seasonal marketing highlights – mostly because I’m currently getting caught up in this activity.

3. Both Sides of the Table
Both Sides of the Table discusses entrepreneurship, startup lessons, and venture capital.
Put simply, Both Sides of the Table features “perspectives of a 2x entrepreneur turned VC at @UpfrontVC, the largest and most active early-stage fund in Southern California.”
Editor Mark Suster also manages the site’s Snapchat and Twitter accounts.

4. Adrian Swinscoe
Adrian Swinscoe is an author, former teacher, and economist.
“I’m a huge fan of organisations that do great things for their customers and their employees and I’m a helper to many wanting to achieve their own level of greatness,” Swinscoe says. “I’m also a lover of simplicity and advocate of the human touch with a bit of really useful technology thrown in.”
His blog covers quite a lot in business.
