Top Dog Names of 2018: Max is Out, Bella Still Reigns

My Dog’s Name (www.mydogsname.com), a leading website for finding the perfect name for your pup, has released the list of top dog names in 2018. The results are based on the search selections of the 4.3 million dog owners who used the site this year for their new pet. For the top male dog names, there was a huge surprise: Max no longer is in the Top 10 for the first time since the site started in 2013. It was down to No. 27 on the list of male dogs named in 2018.

ISM Reports Economic Growth to Continue in 2019

Economic growth in the U.S. will continue in 2019, say the nation’s purchasing and supply management executives in the December 2018 Semiannual Economic Forecast. Expectations are for a continuation of the growth that began in mid-2009, as indicated in the monthly ISM Report On Business. The manufacturing sector is optimistic about growth in 2019, with revenues expected to increase in 17 manufacturing industries, and the non-manufacturing sector also indicates that 17 of its industries will see higher revenues. Capital expenditures, a major driver in the U.S. economy, are expected to increase by 6 percent in the manufacturing sector and increase by 3.4 percent in the non-manufacturing sector.

AAA: One-in-Three Americans Will Travel This Holiday Season, the Most on Record

AAA forecasts that more than one-third of Americans will travel this holiday season. The record-breaking 112.5 million travelers taking to the nation’s runways, roads, and rails for the year-end holidays represents a 4.4 percent increase over last year and the most since AAA has been tracking holiday travel. For the more than 102 million people who will pack up their cars for a holiday road trip, INRIX, a global mobility analytics company, predicts travel times in the most congested cities in the U.S. could be as much as four times longer than a normal trip.

More Women Received Raises in 2018 Than Men – But There’s a Catch

Despite economists’ predictions that low unemployment and high wage growth would lead to pay raises for Americans, a survey from personal finance website GOBankingRates revealed that most employees (70 percent) did not receive a bump in pay in 2018. The survey, which sought to uncover if Americans are benefiting from the strong labor market, revealed that more women received raises than men this year. Yet it represents only a small step toward closing the gender wage gap.
