If cold temperatures, above-normal snowfall, and biting winds aren’t your favorite, you’re not going to like the forecast from the 2019 Farmers’ Almanac. “Teeth-chattering,” “biting,” and “stinging” cold are a few of the adjectives the Farmers’ Almanac is using to describe the upcoming winter, and not only in northern areas.

Sears Holdings Initiates Processes to Accelerate Strategic Transformation and Facilitate Financial Restructuring

Sears Holdings Corp. on Oct. 15 announced a series of actions to position the company to establish a sustainable capital structure, continue streamlining its operating model and grow profitably for the long term. To facilitate these actions, the company and certain of its subsidiaries have filed voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

NASA InSight Lander Arrives on Martian Surface to Learn What Lies Beneath

Mars has just received its newest robotic resident. NASA’s Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport (InSight) lander successfully touched down on the red planet after an almost 7-month, 300-million-mile (458-million-kilometer) journey from Earth. InSight’s two-year mission will be to study the deep interior of Mars to learn how all celestial bodies with rocky surfaces, including Earth and the Moon, formed.

TIME Names the 2018 Person of the Year: The Guardians

On Dec. 11, TIME named “The Guardians” the 2018 Person of the Year.
