Cisco Intends to Acquire Acacia Communications

Cisco and Acacia Communications announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Cisco has agreed to acquire Acacia. An existing Cisco supplier, Acacia designs and manufactures high-speed, optical interconnect technologies that allow webscale companies, service providers, and data center operators to meet the fast-growing consumer demands for data.  Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco has agreed to acquire Acacia for $70 per share in cash, or for approximately $2.6 billion on a fully diluted basis, net of cash and marketable securities.

LendingTree Survey Finds 45% of Newlyweds Went into Debt for Their Wedding — and It’s Causing Marital Problems

LendingTree released its study on newlyweds and wedding expenses. Approximately 45% of newlyweds between the ages of 18 and 53 went into debt to pay for their wedding. And once married, nearly half of the newlyweds who obtained wedding-related debt said money has caused them to consider divorce. On the flip side, only 9% of couples without wedding-related debt contemplate divorce.

Britain most popular European destination for American LGBTQ visitors

The “LGBTQ Leisure Travel to Britain” research, carried out by Community Marketing & Insights, found that Britain’s historical and cultural attractions were found to be the top travel motivators overall for LGBTQ visitors with 76% sightseeing at famous buildings and monuments and 71% visiting museums and art galleries on their trip. The survey also found that American LGBTQ visitors enjoyed the vibrancy of Britain’s cities with London, Edinburgh, Bath, Glasgow, and Manchester the top five cities for overnight visits.

Culture Over Cash? Glassdoor Multi-Country Survey Finds More than Half of Employees Prioritize Workplace Culture Over Salary

Glassdoor released a new survey measuring sentiment around mission and culture in the workplace today, along with the level of importance of both. Glassdoor surveyed more than 5,000 adults across four countries: the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Among key findings, Glassdoor found that more than three-quarters (77%) of adults would consider a company’s culture before applying for a job there, and well over half (56%) say company culture is more important than salary when it comes to job satisfaction.
