Deloitte: Holiday Retail Sales Expected to Increase 7-9%

Holiday retail sales are likely to increase between 7% and 9% in 2021, according to Deloitte’s annual holiday retail forecast. Overall, Deloitte’s retail and distribution practice projects that holiday sales will total $1.28 to $1.3 trillion during the November to January timeframe. Deloitte also forecasts that e-commerce sales will grow by 11-15%, year-over-year, during the 2021-2022 holiday season. This will likely result in e-commerce holiday sales reaching between $210 billion and $218 billion this season.

Survey: The Great Resignation is Hitting Managers the Hardest

Managers are more burned out than workers, according to a new study by Oracle NetSuite and Wakefield Research that examines the impact on businesses of the Great Resignation. The study of 500 executives, managers, and workers across the U.S. found that despite managers and workers both working longer hours, managers are more worried about burnout and much more likely to quit without having a new job lined up. The study also examined the ways businesses can address the challenges of the Great Resignation and identified the need for more training, self-service technology, and automation to solve talent shortages.

Seasons Change, but Fire and Carbon Monoxide Safety Is Year-Round; Warm Up to CPSC’s Tips for Staying Safe During Colder Weather

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to be vigilant about fire and carbon monoxide (CO) hazards in the colder winter months ahead. The dangers, although present across all populations, disproportionally affect certain communities.

According to CPSC’s Residential Fire Loss Estimates report, African Americans have the highest rate of fire deaths, nearly twice the overall rate across the population. In addition, African Americans represent 22 percent of portable generator-related CO deaths, nearly 170 from 2010-2020.
