Even More Gardening Blogs We Love: Volume 5

Spring is in the air so this week, we’re giving a shoutout to a few landscape and gardening blogs that are inspiring us to get outside. Do you have a blog that deserves recognition? Spring is nearly here and I don’t know about you, but I am seriously done with the winter. I’m ready to head to my local garden center for some new plants and freshen up my yard for the coming months.
But I have the farthest thing from a green thumb when it comes to gardening, so I’ll take all the help I can get. These landscaping and gardening blogs are full of helpful advice and tips for creating the yard of your dreams, regardless of your skill level or the size or your space.
This is clearly a topic that we can’t get enough of – this is our fifth roundup of gardening blogs! If you need more garden inspo, check out Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3 and Volume 4.
1. Yardzen
Yardzen is a team of horticulturalists, landscape designers, engineers and others that work together to help customers improve their outdoor spaces (and have fun doing it). It was founded in 2017 after co-founders Allison and Adam Messner fled their NorCal home due a wildfire and were in search of a cost-effective yet traditional landscape design.
A big draw for Yardzen is its focus on sustainability. The site aims to “support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems by encouraging the use of climate-adapted and habitat-supporting plants in yards throughout the United States.”
The Yardzen blog covers a range of landscaping topics, including flower choices, yard makeovers, landscape design trends, yard budgeting and more.

2. Pretty Purple Door
Pretty Purple Door is written by Amy Fedele, a garden lover and designer from Pennsylvania. Fedele has a diploma in Garden Design and Maintenance, and it shows on her blog. She’s even developed her own 4-Season Garden Design Course to share her framework with new gardeners.
Fedele’s blog aims to make gardening fun and relaxing, yet effective. Her plans help gardeners create yards that suit their personalities and solve problems like privacy issues and awkward layouts.
Check out the Pretty Purple Door blog for garden design tips, inspiration and guides.

3. GreenPal
GreenPal is a platform that connects homeowners with lawn care specialists in their area. The service operates in cities across the U.S. GreenPal’s main focus is lawn care – which is what attracted me to the blog because I’m new to caring for grass and desperately need help in this area.
But the blog goes beyond grass growing tips and includes advice for choosing the right plants, creating a landscape design, buying the right tools (mowers, sprinklers, etc.) and more.

For readers with a more limited outdoor space, Urban Gardens is the perfect resource. This blog was created by Robin Plaskoff Horton, a former creative director and art director who shares her “love affair with urban style, design, sustainable living, and travel” in her posts.
