Travelers Want High-Tech, Low-Touch Hotel Stays Shows New Oracle Survey

A new study by Oracle Hospitality and Skift shows that 95% of people plan to travel in the next six months – with 29% taking an epic ‘revenge travel’ trip – however, many want to eliminate the ‘touch’ from the high-touch industry they once knew. Nearly three-quarters (73%) of travelers want to use their mobile device to manage their hotel experience, including checking in and out, paying, ordering food, and more. This is good news for hoteliers looking to tech to manage through the staffing shortage without hurting guest engagement and service.

Deloitte: Leisure Travel to Take Off This Summer

Safety perceptions related to travel and social activities are at their highest point since the pandemic began, prompting many Americans to plan summer trips. However, amid renewed optimism for leisure travel, financial concerns and higher prices weigh on travelers. Deloitte’s new report, “Getting Back to Getaways: 2022 Deloitte Summer Travel Survey,” examines the trends and preferences that will guide leisure trips this season.

Among the findings:

• Six in 10 Americans will travel this summer, an increase from last year when 5 in 10 Americans planned the same.
• Travelers will take an average of two trips this summer with most (83%) planning to stay in hotels and/or rentals. Half (51%) plan to fly, while slightly more plan to take road trips (57%). Only 7% plan to take a cruise.
• More than one-quarter (28%) of travelers plan to spend significantly more this summer over their 2019 travel budgets for marquee trips, due to higher prices as well as accumulated savings. Meanwhile, 15% plan to spend significantly less; half of those travelers cite financial concerns.

United Kicks Off Largest Transatlantic Expansion in its History: 30 New or Resumed Flights in Eight Weeks

United has kicked off the launch of the largest transatlantic expansion in its history, in anticipation of a strong recovery in European summer travel. In total, United will launch or resume 30 Transatlantic flights from mid-April through early June. This includes adding new nonstop flights to five distinctive leisure destinations no other North American airline serves including Amman, Jordan; Bergen, Norway; Azores, Portugal; Palma de Mallorca, Spain; and Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands.

ASCM’s 2022 Salary and Career Report Shows Minimal Impact from the Great Resignation, High Job Satisfaction

The Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), the global pacesetter of organizational transformation, talent development and supply chain innovation, today (May 25) released the findings of its 2022 Supply Chain Salary and Career Report. The annual survey found supply chains were minimally impacted by the Great Resignation. According to the report, 14% of respondents found a new job, up only 2% from last year. The data also revealed career satisfaction remained exceedingly high despite the continuous strain of supply chain disruptions.
