Last week, we looked closely at conservative blogs. This week, we’re going to immerse ourselves in the liberal world.

Daily Kos is a political blog powerhouse.

It was founded May 2002 by Markos Moulitsas Zúniga. Today, it’s the premier online political community with 2.5 million unique visitors per month and a quarter of a million registered users.

It’s hard not to love this site. Among the luminaries to post diaries there have been Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi.

Posts that I enjoyed reading include Ruth Bader Ginsburg doesn’t care about traditional media outrage, doubles down on Trump criticism, Chanting ‘Black Lives Matter,’ White Protesters Take Philadelphia Streets, and GOP devoting more staffers to whipping against ‘Dump Trump’ than it has in four key swing states.

Mother Jones is a much bigger site than just politics.

It also covers the environment, food, media, crime and justice, and special investigations.

In its own words: “Mother Jones is a reader-supported nonprofit news organization. We do independent and investigative reporting on everything from politics and climate change to education and food (plus cat blogging). Some 9 million people come to this site each month.”

I kinda heart AlterNet.

The alternative news site covers food and the environment, economy, education, media and culture, health, and activism, among other things.

Its election coverage featured a pretty hilarious piece recently: Colbert Bids the Bernie Sanders Campaign a Fond and Hilarious Farewell.

Democratic Underground is “an online community where politically liberal people can do their part to effect political and social change.”

First of all, I really like the election graphic on the home page, comparing “Two Visions for America: Comparing Key Planks from the 2016 Party Platforms.” Democratic Underground sourced the graphic to a number of news agencies, including New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal.

Other posts that caught my eye include State Department will Release Deleted Clinton Emails, Democratic Convention Host Chair Ed Rendell: Trump is Right on Trade and China, and Philly Airport Workers Vote to Strike During the DNC.
