Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, we select a topic and handful of blogs that do a great job contributing to the conversation. Our latest roundup recognizes a few helpful motivational blogs. Do you have a blog that deserves recognition? Tweet our writers at @BeyondBylines.

Motivational Blogs

It’s that time of year again.

Time to make that list of unrealistic goals you want to accomplish in 2018.

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. You have to remember you made them in order to accomplish them — and I never do.

Motivational blogs can help you set realistic goals and expectations that may set you up to complete your New Year’s resolution (especially if that resolution is to love yourself and become a better person).

(Note: Make sure to check out our list of motivational blogs from 2020 for even more helpful content.)

1. The Good Men Project

I’ve been following this blog for a while. It’s dedicated to encouraging men to be mindful and introspective in all aspects of their life.

It’s really positive and encourages self-love and self-growth.

I love reading these blogs because I’m sometimes presented with a new perspective I wouldn’t have considered. Some of the dating blogs are also really interesting.

Some posts to check out: Be Proud of Being A Man, Four High School Senior Girls Talk about Male Entitlement, the ‘Woke Misogynist’ and the #MeToo Movement.

2. The Tim Ferriss Show Blog

Tim Ferriss is an acclaimed entrepreneur who acts as an advisor for major companies like Facebook and Uber.

He’s written a number of self-help books, many of which are #1 bestsellers in The New York Times. He also runs a podcast where he interviews other successful people and some just generally positive celebrities (like my personal fave, Terry Crews).

Ferriss’s blog is recommended by just about everyone. You cannot go on any site regarding motivational content without his blog being mentioned somewhere.

3. MotivationGrid

Founded in 2013, MotivationGrid is considered one of the top blogs for encouragement and advice for getting on the right path (and growing a business, if you feel the need to).

The site aggregates positive information that can help people feel inspired in their career paths, relationships, or just their day-to-day life. You’ll find daily motivational quotes on this site, alongside their numerous advice and inspirational articles.

4. Brain Pickings

This blog is a little different than the last three and that’s why I love it.

Brain Pickings is run by Maria Popova, a writer whose work has been in The New York Times, The Atlantic, and Wired.

Unlike most motivational blogs, it’s not trying to really trying to provide guidance on how to have positivity. Instead, it showcases what Maria draws inspiration from and seeks to create a narrative that inspires others. Hope and motivation through well-written and informative narrative is what I absolutely adore about this blog.
