My dog is one of the more important “people” in my life and I think about his health and well-being a lot.
This past week, a number of coworkers and I had discussions about the health and well-being of our animals, so I’ve been looking into vet blogs.
1. VETgirl Blog
VETgirl is an online subscription-based education service run by veterinarians Drs. Justine Lee and Garret Pachtinger. The website has been providing vet education since 2012.
One of the things that drew me to this blog was its focus on the mental health and well-being of veterinarians themselves (as I imagine interacting with sick animals and stressed people can be very emotionally stressing).
Here are some posts I enjoyed: Emotional wellness: Why dark emotions are just as important as warm & fuzzy ones; and Healthy self-wellness tips for veterinary professionals.

2. Dr. Belinda the Vet (now at Rouse Hill Family Veterinarians)
Dr. Belinda is a vet living in Sydney with more than 17 years of experience. Her blog is more pet-owner focused and she also has some vlog content featured on her blog (which is cool for someone like me who spends most of their time on YouTube).
Because of her busy lifestyle, Dr. Belinda’s updates aren’t as frequent, but she regularly updates her Instagram and Twitter so that there’s always easy access to vet content.

3. Diary of a Real-Life Veterinarian
Krista Magnifico’s blog is one of my personal favorites. It focuses on the emotional and empathetic side of veterinary practices and pet-owning, giving advice to pet owners who may inadvertently find themselves in bad situations. She also provides an inside look at how hard it is to be a vet and perform things like euthanasia, as well as the mental health and well-being of vets in general.
Like Dr. Belinda, Krista is active on YouTube and provides informative videos on everyday vet practices.

4. Dakota Hills Veterinary Clinic blog
I learned about a new dog from this blog, so I felt obligated to include it!
The Dakota Hills Veterinary Clinic’s website is pretty fleshed out with tours of the hospital and resources to help pet parents learn more about the diseases their pets may have and how to administer medication. The blog has more of an educational style directed to teaching pet owners how to care for their charges properly.

Thank you for this. I’ve been looking for blogs that relate to this since recently my pet Fetty was taken at the nearby emergency animal hospital. He ingested large amounts of nuts which caused his diarrhea. Right now, he is okay but we are still monitoring if any problems occur.
Good information on the veterinarian blogs, it will be of great use for those who are in need of it. The information offered by an online veterinarian is highly useful, especially for immediate responses. There are many blogs that even gives information on dog supplies and veterinarian products too.
