Blog Profiles: Food Blogs, Volume 4

Food blogs are definitely one of our favorite topics for the Blog Profiles series. Check out Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3 for even more scrumptious recipes and cooking tips. Still not full? We have plenty of other blog roundups focused on food.

What else can I say about food besides that I’m always up for seconds. The main reason I work out is so that I can eat what I want when I want it. As a teenager, I would sit in my room late at night and watch cooking/travel shows. These programs were my window into that world that existed outside my everyday life.

Trying foods from different cultures became a way I could experience the wonders of the world. Learning how to cook, on the other hand, was a completely different experience. It was much more difficult as much of what was made at home growing up was overly well-done meat and highly processed foods. It wasn’t my parents’ fault, mind you. We didn’t have much money for the expensive ingredients.

As time went on, I was able to slowly learn from watching others and reading food blogs. We’ve compiled a new list of food blogs for you to enjoy and hopefully learn from just as I have.

1. Serious Eats

The Serious Eats blog may feel a little abstract with the topics from time to time, but what’s great about it is that it gets you acquainted with the little-known basics about how to handle foods.

You’ll get product reviews along with beginner tips on how to get started with different types of cooking. Rarely does one feel like an expert takes the time to slow down and walk us through how to do something.

The Serious Eats blog is the experts’ perspective presented with the beginner in mind.

Here are a couple great reads: Do Bones Add Flavor to Meat? and How To Store Tomatoes.

2. DOWNSHIFTOLOGY

If you want to learn how to cook delicious meals that also happen to be healthy, DOWNSHIFTOLOGY is the blog for you. Many people believe that healthy food can’t taste good, but Lisa Bryan will prove you wrong. Her experience with finding herself and finding that nourishing her body was important for her overall health is a story that many of us are familiar with.

I also struggle with finding the energy to meal prep in order to eat healthily, but when I do, my whole mood and day are benefited. Especially when I find tasty recipes like those that Lisa writes about in the DOWNSHIFTOLOGY blog.

A couple relevant reads: Cilantro Lime Chicken and Shrimp Tacos With Cilantro Lime Bacon Slaw.

3. Everything Delish

Everything Delish quite literally only has delicious recipes. Think comfort food but fancy. There’s nothing I love more than being able to get down on some cheesy fries or egg sandwiches. My inner child loves everything about this blog.

Jamie Milne was able to create a unique blog in a sea of food blogs. Along with her consistent content and refreshing style of writing, Jamie captures her audience’s attention and has garnered over 150,000 followers across her social media accounts.

Take a look at Everything Delish and get your food on with some delicious treats for the millennial or the entire family.

I recommend reading Baked Brie With Sugared Cranberries and Whipped Feta & Roasted Olives Recipe.

4. Dinner: A Love Story

Is it just me or does everyone’s family start asking them what’s for dinner right after breakfast is served? Dinner: A Love Story couldn’t better capture the true story of our daily struggles. The most difficult part of being an adult is figuring out what to eat for dinner.

Dinner also happens to be the most socially important meal of the day. It’s hopefully the specific time each day for loved ones to come around a table to share a meal and discuss the day’s happenings. The blog provides some exquisite recipes that will be eaten up in no time.

I especially want to try the Soft Shell Crab and some of the grilling recipes. There’s nothing more satisfying than cooking dinner for one’s family to enjoy and have a discussion over.

Check out these posts: Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp and Soft Shell Crab for Sunday Dinner.
